Why do you think the great plains region of the United States did not vote for FDR during the 1940 election

    The voters of the Great Plains had voted for Roosevelt in 1932, hoping that the emerging New Deal coalition could get the country out of the economic depression. However, by 1940 there had been a new economic decline that brought unemployment and criticism of the New Deal, leading to many programs to be ended.

    So in the 1940 election, the Great Plains went back to voting for the Republicans
