Why did the Republican Isolationists refuse to ratify President Wilson's League of Nations? They were angry about the president's decision to take only one Republican to the peace conference at Versailles. They thought the League favored European colonization that would hamper the United States' powers. They thought the League tied the United States to Europe and their conflicts going against traditional US policies about international affairs. They were opposed to Article 10 that could infringe upon the United States' right to declare war and expand its territories.
