    Industrialization changed the production model. Instead of artisans producing craftmade products in workshops, factories emerged with intense capitalization (machines) and employed large amount of workers.

    While employees in the factories earned low salaries for their extremely long working shifts, the owners of the factories and the enterprises (owners of the means of production) started to gather extraordinary fortunes. This started to generate a large gap between the rich and the poor and first, disatisfaction, and afterwards tensions, emerged between the two groups.

    For example, theories such as Marxism or socialism were inspired on this situation and blamed the owners of the means of production for exploiting the working class, which were called proletariats.
