    The SEC acronym means Securities and Exchange Commission. It was established in 1934 with the purpose of putting the stock exchange in order and stopping the harmful and irresponsible practice that had led to the great recession in 1929. Finally, this commission was supposed to encourage investments by restoring the shattered confidence in the American market.
