Founders of the United States were all enamored with the ideas of Enlightenment. The ideals of personal liberty, natural freedom, republicanism, religious tolerance, and rights of the common man are all stated and guaranteed in the U. S Constitution. The founders worked long and hard to make sure that the new American government, and the succeeding rulers, will protect these rights.
