One reason that the Populist Party failed was: Populists looked to the past and did not develop an agenda for an industrial economy

The populist party was created by a group of farmers and they pushed to abolish federal banks, create subsidies for the farmers and transfer all business ownership to the government. Their ideas only benefit those who worked in the agricultural sector and failed to adjust themselves to the industrial revolution.
