Although most Americans were in support of the course (withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam), they disliked the methods the antiwar protesters applied, which by and large disrupted business as usual across the country. Many were also not supportive of the culture of the social change movements, and were of the opinion that it was somewhat unpatriotic to publicly protest against the war, while American soldiers were on the battle field.
