True or False? Some writers of the Constitution opposed democracy on the grounds that the people would be unable to make wise decisions.

    True. Many writers of the constitution constituted what we would consider today as "the 1%" - rich, famous, ect. Over half of them owned slaves (including George Washington, though he set them free upon his death). They feared a uneducated population and what decisions they would make directly; This is why Presidential elections are decided by 'electors' (though most are required to vote for what the people want, they have voted against the wishes of there states in the past) and it's also why senators in the U. S senate where chosen by the state, not the people, into it was changed in the 1900's.
