According to Jefferson, what is the "sacred principle" of american constitutional government?

    In Jefferson's first inaugural address, he states that the "sacred principle" is that the will of the majority must always "prevail." The US Constitution created a system in which US citizens have the ability to pick their representatives. That's why it is imperative that the majority rules concept applies at all time, as this represents the views of most citizens in the US. Failure to abide by the will of the majority could result in revolution.
