    Based on the two speeches that Pontiac delivered to his people (1762 and 1763) we know that he understood freedom as the fight for Independence.

    Pontiac was the head of the Odawa tribe found what we now know as Ontario, Canada, and the Great Lakes region. He had led a rebellion against the British expansion during the French and Indian War.
