hy was slavery abolished in the future and not the present with the Constitution? No one wanted to debate the issue and cause division. It was to be abolished with the next generation. There was no place to put statements concerning freedoms in the document. Slavery was accepted by the men at the convention, but they would abolish it in the future.

I think the answer could be "It was to be abolished by the next generation."

One generation thought it was fine, but the next disagreed. It saw it's flaws, and then it worked to stop it

    And it did.
