In old times their weren't allot of money
Explanation:
Simply, the working conditions were terrible during the Industrial Revolution. As factories were being built, businesses were in need of workers. With a long line of people willing to work, employers could set wages as low as they wanted because people were willing to do work as long as they got paid.

Well, the answer varies, but bad. Because of machines.
Explanation:
This was during the IR. In the start everything was good, but then machines came into place and took all the jobs. All of these developments produced a tremendous upheaval of people's lives. There was no longer a need for men, and there was a sudden collapse of jobs and people were forced into poverty. Machines were stealing the jobs of men. Citys hundreds of weavers were now out of work and starving. People began to despair; why bother to learn a skill if a machine could do it. Many of them raged against the machines that had robbed them of their happiness. People started to plunder factories and destroy machines.
Misery still persisted and increased. People felt that it could not go on like this. It was simply not right that a person could have such control over lives by simply owning a machine. People believe that something with such monstrous power shouldn't be owned by one individual, but the community as a whole. This idea is called Socialism.
