Bakke a white student, sued California because he was denied admission twice to medical school, even when 16 minorities were admitted who were have a lower score than him. Case claimed affirmative action plans stating that they caused opposite discrimination. Court agreed with Bakke, however, the court also ruled that a strict quota system was unconstitutional and ordered the university to admitted Bake into the med school.
