    Treaty of Versailles and the break up of the Ottoman Empire--The Ottoman Empire fought on the Central Powers side and with Treaty of Versailles were forced to break up as an empire.

    The remaining pieces of the crumbling Ottoman Empire was further broken down and created 3 new countries--Turkey, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. This was done based on religion and ethnic origins to create the three new states.
