Industry began to increasingly employ women and children when men went off to war during World War 1 and 2. Women and children replaced men, also in an effort to support the war. Though it may have seemed to be a grand thing for women and children to be working and learning how to exist outside of the home or school, It also had its repercussions. Child labor was horrendous and working conditions were very poor, leading to many other dangers. It was the same for women who were performing work that was usually a " mans job".
