Why did additional states secede after the Battle of Fort Sumter?

⇒They thought the Union should have won the battle.

⇒They thought Lincoln had caused the battle.

⇒They wanted to create a second Confederacy.

⇒They wanted to create new, larger states.

    Second statement. That they believed Lincoln had caused the battle. The Confederates fired first, so this doesn't really make sense, but you know what they say: The winners write the history books. And the South did win the Battle at Fort Sumter.
