When the American Civilians (people not in war) heard of the situation at Valley Forge, they felt terrible. They collected food and supplies (such as, blankets and clothing) and sent everything to the Minutemen.

-George Washington's troops had low food and water supplies, poor clothing, shortage on ammunition and guns, untrained soldiers, the deep snow and the cold winter air.
