People's Party or Populist Party--this organization grew out of the farmers' alliances taking place in the late 1870s and early 1880s leading to the development of a political party organization by the late 1880s.

Greenbackers were mostly farmers from the Midwest who believed the solution to economic concerns was the printing of more currency. Greenbackers eventually moved to the coinage of silver as a solution to financial concerns which joined them with the Populist Party. James Weaver was a major political candidate for the Greenback Party and would be foundation for the Populist Party as well.
