    The Abbasid Revolution deposed the second Umayyad Caliphate in ancient Islam. The war finished the Arabic empire and reoriented the Muslim society of that period.

    The Abbasids were descendants of Abbas ibn Abd-al Muttalib. After the victory, the troops destroyed the tombs of Umayyads in Siria and killed entire families. Ab al-Rahman I survived the attack and eventually established a Umayyad Caliphate kindom of Al Andalus.
