To what extent the new deal programs facilitate the promotion of equality among different groups in the United States

The New Deal was a package of meaasures, based on Keynesian economics and implemented by President Roosevelt during the 1930s decade. The New Deal aimed to create job positions to overturn the large unemployment figures that were affecting the US population, by increasing public expenditure (one of the variables of the fiscal policy) in public works and hence, created the necessary employment to undertake those works.

The increase in goverment spending aimed to restore the purchasing power of those sectors of the population that were not earning an income and could not demand goods and services to satisfy their needs as they did before the economic recession. Increasing the income levels of the most disfavoured social sectors with public funds is an effective redistributive practice, as funds collected from all citizens (in a greater extent from higher-income individuals, because a progressive taxation system is used) are directed to improve the situation of the lower-income ones.
