    Women were not mentioned in the Declaration of Independence or in the Constitution. The famous sentence from the Declaration says "all men are born equal." This of course was not accepted by women in general, but the problem was that the suffragette movement wasn't developed back then. Women in that period were still mostly engaged in house-works.

    Explanation:

    When the first real suffragette meeting was held in the States it was stressed that Declaration of Independence was not outlining the role of women. Women had no rights according to them and that needs to change, they said. That is why we can conclude that in the second half of 18th Century women were not respected enough.
