Is the death penalty right or wrong? Present at least two paragraphs explaining your position?

XD i had to do this assignment before. This is what I wrote:

I oppose the death penalty. The death penalty is a penalty where someone is put to death by the government because they have committed a major crime. A few ways they are executed is by: decapitation, electrocution, lethal injection, shooting, hanging, and being put into a gas chamber. I think most of these methods are cruel and a waste of energy. It is noticed by many people that these executions and trails cost millions of dollars, when they could just put the person in jail. Executions are also a major problem for the person’s parents. Evidently, they will probably grieve because there child is going to die, but it will also have a hug toll on them. Expenses are very high and the whole ordeal is very stressful. Another reason why I oppose the death penalty is because, sometimes, innocent people get killed. They are falsely accused or have a bad trail and end up being judged as guilty. If the death penalty was replaced with a sentence of going to prison for life, it is possible for the innocent ones to one day get out. Also, it is possible for the ones who actually did awful crimes to repent and maybe even turn over a new leaf.
