    The Federalists in the late 1780s believed that the central/federal Government have more powers over the states therefore calling for a more centralized government constitution and stronger central with more control over the state governments. the federalists were led by the secretary of treasury as at that time Alexander Hamilton. while

    The Anti-federalists feared that a stronger central government will lead to the states loosing their powers to create certain laws and enforce it as it will apply to them. hence they advocate for the states to have more powers than the Federal Government. the Anti-Federalist were led by secretary of state Thomas Jefferson.
