    they felt like the war wasn't their problem in the beginning as the conflict was mainly happening in Europe however when Germany continued unrestricted submarine warfare and the Zimmerman Telegram was exposed basically saying that Germany would try to join alliance with Mexico the United states ended up joining against Germany with the allied powers in 1917
