They made homespun cloth and found substitutes for other British goods when colonial non-importation

agreements led to shortages. The Sons of Liberty's activities focused more on diplomatic appeals/

public protest. This included petitioning / threatening British officials and pro-British colonists,

destroying property, and hanging officials in effigy.
