    Tensions with France led to the passage of the Sedition Act by the United States Congress in 1798. The Sedition Act of 1798 was a series of four laws passed during the imminent fear of war between France and United States and restricts the activities and limits the freedom of speech of the foreign individuals that resides in the US.
