The net effect of a bicameral house in Texas is that bills and pieces of legislation takes longer than usual. However, it is notable that the two chamber system of Texas was behind the decision to apportion two senators for each states.

Texans were fearful that they would be short changed in senate seats noting they were densely populated, and thus opted for a two house system to guarantee them two slots.
