Zionists are people in favor of the Jewish homeland in the location where Israel is. The Zionists of the 19th and early 20th Century set about the movement that eventually succeeded in establishing the modern state of Israel, although the widespread common traditional yearning among Jews for its re-instatement is as old as the Roman conquest of the area and the suppression of its Jews roughly 2000 years ago.
