What happened at the First Battle of Bull Run that revealed how the average Northerner first viewed this war?

-People thought the war was going to take a long time.

-Citizens from Washington came out to watch the battle.

-No one bothered to provide medical aid for the wounded.

-No reinforcements were used, thinking they weren't needed.

    They thought it was going to be a short war. One battle & it's over. Turns out they were wrong.
