The terror reign was initiated to protect the French Revolution government and to overthrow the rule of Girondins.

    Explanation:

Robespierre led the radical groups called the Jacobins and it was also under the control of the Committee Public Safety. This reign ensure that the citizens should not oppose the revolutions of the government. Also, it stats that anyone who was suspected of being against the revolution would be arrested and tried by the revolutionary tribunal. And if the suspect is found to be guilty he will be imprisoned or sentenced to the jail. This makes people in fear and aware of the revolution and this act doesn't protect the people instead, it is giving a burden to society.
