The Age of Exploration resulted in domination of European powers over indigenous cultures and native regions. Impact varied but generally the conquered ones are on the losing side. In the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, and South America, indigenous peoples were abused and reduced to small dependent minorities. In Asia, colonization resulted in subjugation of local cultures like what happened in India, China, and Southeast Asia. In Africa, the need to supply slaves to European traders resulted in negative changes in demographics of the whole continent and degraded local economies and trading.
