What happened during the Industrial Revolution? People switched from producing goods with machinery powered by steam and coal to using machinery powered by electricity. There was a revolution in the production of coal. Cottage industries spread across Africa and Asia. People moved from making goods by hand in their homes to producing goods with machines in factories.
