    Their tactics consisted of retreating or fighting until the last man was standing, they created small partisan groups and 'destruction battalions,' they would send them behind enemy lines to interfere with the Germans efforts in many different ways, and Stalin also created a scorched-earth policy, which called for them to burn any useful resources before they moved on.
