    Ray Charles, born on September 23, 1930. He was an American songwriter, musician, and composer. He has been called the pioneer of soul music. Famous for his music, he won 17 Grammy Awards and was ranked as the #10 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, among many other awards. By the age of 7, he was completely blind, he went to school and even though he could not see he learned to play the piano and was taught to use braille music.
