What is the difference between vertical and horizontal integration

    Verticalintegration is the process of buying out suppliers of that particular industry. The main difference is that horizontalintegration buys the competing companies while verticalintegration aims at the raw material sources necessary to produce that product.

    The difference is horizontal integration consists of companies that acquire a similar company in the same industry, while a vertical integration consists of companies that operates either before or after the acquiring company in the production process.
