    People from the East started to move to the West of the country because they were looking for better opportunities to trade and live. The Industrial Revolution changed the way transportation worked. WIth new roads, boats in rivers, steamboats, and later the construction of canals and railroads, what used to last months, now were much easier and faster to transport.
