Many executive offices, especially important ones like attorney general and secretary of state, are established in a state's constitution, which provides the basis for their right to do the things they need to and a description of their duties. Other offices commonly included in a state's constitution are treasurer and superintendent of schools. Its also has something to do with the different branches as well
