The United Nations has been successful in limiting the emergence of new wars, but only partially. Although it has prevented the emergence of new confrontations on a global scale (especially during the Cold War, where its actions put a limit on the development of a world nuclear war), it has not been able to limit the development of smaller-scale wars, or even wars between various underdeveloped countries.

Thus, although conflicts between the great world powers such as the US, China, Russia, France, Great Britain, etc. were avoided, wars such as the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, the Gulf War or the Iraq War could not be limited. Even wars like the Congo Wars (collectively called the African World War due to the number of African countries involved) developed causing millions of deaths.
