Not everyone was thrilled by the ideas and concepts of the renaissance. This was because it was a disruptive time of experimentation and exploration that was unresolved, fluid, intellectually and spiritually demanding. As such, it challenged the prevailing, long-held traditions of art and philosophy. This set it in a collision course with the church that until then had dictated everything about art and academia. As such, religious authorities were outraged by the art and ideas of the renaissance.
