    Both the North and South had advantages for winning the Civil War. The North has significant advantages - - a greater population, the industrial base, the factories to make these war materials.

    The South had a greater army and more experienced generals during the first year of the war. The South also had some geographic advantages over the North.

    The North, however, won the four years of conflict.
