The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo gave America a significant amount of territory after the Mexican-American War. The United States received modern day Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. This territory would become known as the Mexican Cession. For all of this land, Mexico received roughly $15 million from the United States. Mexico would also renounce all claims to Texas and recognize the Rio Grande as the southern border between the US and Mexico.
