What benefit to civilization comes from war and trade?

    Trade exchanges the surplus (so what is not needed) of one good for another, which is needed.

    War - well, I'm not a fan of wars, but you can say that in the early days a war was a way of stealing other groups' possessions, so it made your group richer (if you won).
