    b. brought in its wake much-needed safety legislation. Let's look at the available choice and see why b is the best choice. a. was the worst fire in u. s. history. Not correct. There have been other fire in US history that causes more damage and more deaths. For instance the Iroquois Theatre fire in Chicago killed at least 602 people while the Shirtwaist fire killed 146 people. b. brought in its wake much-needed safety legislation. Looks good. This fire did cause new legislation to improve factory safety standards c. destroyed the business, but there were no casualties. Not correct. As noted in option a above, 146 people died in the fire. d. occurred during the uprising of the 20,000. Not correct. The uprising of the 20,000 did involve the Shirtwaist company, but it started in November 1909 and ended in February 1910. The Shirtwaist fire happened March 25, 1911, a bit over a year after the strike was over. e. resulted in laws that banned all manufacturing in New York. Not correct. There is still manufacturing going on in New York. So of the 5 options, only option "b" has the possibility of being correct since all the rest of the options have factual errors.
