John B. Gordon (1832 - 1904) was an attorney and a planter and he participated in the American Civil War as a general of the Confederate army. In the postwar era he became a politician. He was elected governor of Georgia in 1886 and remained in office until 1890. Afterwards, he served as US Senator during two different terms: 1873-1880 and 1891-1897.

Together with Joseph E. Brown and Alfred H. Colquitt, John B. Gordon was part of the Bourbon Triumvirate, a denomination that was used to refer to the three most powerful and important politicians in Georgia during and after the Reconstruction era.
