    The right answers are:

    Religion was no longer an influential factor in the lives of many Americans.

    The Protestant majority status was declining.

    The reason why is;

    Religion was no longer an influential factor in the lives of many Americans.

    There seems to be a process of generational replacement where older people who are more religious are no longer here and have passed. They're being replaced demographically by younger behind who are less and less religious and that process has been happening for decades.

    The Protestant majority status was declining.

    America's Protestant majority was in fact declining, religion is losing ground in American Society.
