Since Southern blacks were not allowed to fight in the Civil War, how were they able to contribute to the war effort?

    Many African Americans from the south would either join the Union forces when the Union would pass through and win, or they would rebel and cause chaos to the south which would weaken the confederation. They would often even poison food that they had to create for the soldiers.
