By what year had rome gained control of all of italy except the po valley?

    Alright so in the same year of 396 BC, Rome drove out another group of Italians, and they continued fighting with another group called the Samnites, a tribe coalition. Now, they never did eradicate the Samnites, but they stopped fighting. By the end of these clashes and wars, Rome controlled almost all of Italy.
