What had the colonists tried to do to voice their objections with the king before declaring independence?

    The colonists objected to the monopoly on tea and the stamp tax leading to protests and refusal to pay. They also intimidated tax collectors. The colonists also formed congress to petition the King and discuss their grievances. Finally, the colonists and congress declared independence.

They also have tried Appealing to parliament and other british citizens, but the British government still choose to dismiss the efforts.
