American policy in Vietnam has been compared to stepping into quicksand. You have been asked to give a speech on how the U. S. became involved in Vietnam. Using material from your notes and the textbook, examine American involvement in the Vietnam War. What caused it? How did the U. S. become part of the struggle? Could the U. S. have avoided the war?

    The main reason for the Vietnam war was the US trying to stop the spread of communism. The war could have easily been avoided. We gained nothing from the war only casualties.
