    each resulted in southern plantations owners increasing their economic powers but sacrificing some political influence

    missouri compromise resulted into the admission of a free and slave states, balancing power against the wishes of the south. It quelled tensions over increased influence of slave states. With the three fifth compromise slaves were to be counted as three fifth of a person while aportioning representation which also resulted in the south giving in to lesser expectations but maintaining control over slaves.
